Howard A. Pearson, MD, November 4, 1929 - October 16, 2016

"My co-author and beloved father-in-law Dr. Howard A. Pearson passed away on October 16, 2016, in New Haven, Connecticut.  For the past three years while writing “Fulfilling Paul Newman’s Dream,” we have spent countless hours drafting text, emailing each other, talking on the phone, laughing and bantering (which we did for the past 40 years).  From the very beginning of the writing, we decided to donate any profits to Camp.  Dad was a kind, thoughtful gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor.  He did crossword puzzles in ink and loved to challenge people to a cribbage game.  He dedicated his career to helping children with life-threatening diseases.  I was very fortunate to marry his son Stephen, my best friend, and become Howard Pearson’s daughter-in-law.  He treated me like a daughter.  I was honored and privileged to write his memoir with him.  I will miss him for the rest of my life." -- Mary Lou Shefsky
